Survivors - on going photo story

I'm happy to present you my personal documentary project on which I've been working for months now.  It shows the beauty of all the marks, scars and different body shapes. They change their status from unwanted and disturbing objects to a meaningful integrity.

Alba is a 16 years old activists. Her body is covered with 500 moles and large patches of dark hairy skin (congenital melanocytic nevus condition). 

She was called Dalmatian and Alien. Last year she decided to embrace her birthmarks and she won the empowering campaign and she became a model. 
'I realised that my moles, scars and my nevus is a big part of me both physically and psychologically."

She breaks all of the stereotypes, she accepts her body, scars, birthmarks and she empowerments others to love their uniqueness. 

"It doesn't have any sense, that's why I love myself just the way I am and I love my skin."

'The worst thing I heard was someone telling me 'don't show your back to anyone, because no one wants a misshapen girlfriend'
 

17 years ago Marta surveyed a terrible car accident. She was 13 then. She had many injuries, both of her hands and legs were broken. After a long rehabilitation and thanks to her mums love and support she believed in her again.  
 

Johanna was struggling all her life with the amputation of her right foot. When she was a teenager she hated how she looked like, she got bullied in school, she was hiding it and she didn´t believe that she could be happy and live a normal life. 
She got stronger. 
"I am happy with my life now and can do everything what I ever dreamed of even with my so called „flaws“. But this flaws, make me unique and I do celebrate them everyday.
Being beautiful comes from the inside. No nice dress, no windy hair no missing foot can ever change that. Confidence has to built up in order to feel true body love."
 

Helena is a 22 years old plus size model.
After many years of  lack of self-acceptance and depression she became an activist helping other women that have similar problems.
